Silicon Nanocrystals Efficiently Multiply Charge Carriers
Physicists from the University of Amsterdam with a colleague from Charles University of Prague have shown that closely packed silicon nanocrystals can efficiently convert incoming photons in at least twice as many carriers. This method of achieving charge carrier multiplication could potentially increase the efficiency of solar cells.
